The Story Behind the Madiloū Candle

Some collaborations begin with a product. This one began with a question...

If Madiloū was a candle, what would she smell like?

Madiloū has always been about more than silk. Each scarf tells a story, carries a memory, and captures a feeling, something deeply personal that becomes part of the person wearing it. We wondered what would happen if that same emotion could be experienced through fragrance instead.

So we set out to translate silk into scent.

Not literally, but emotionally.

After exploring different fragrance directions, one composition felt unmistakably right.

Lime. Basil. Mandarin.

Fresh notes of lime and mandarin bring brightness and vitality, while peppery basil and aromatic herbs add elegance and depth. A subtle woody finish lingers quietly in the background, creating a fragrance that feels clean, refined and effortlessly timeless.

The result is a candle that feels just like Madiloū herself; graceful, modern and quietly expressive.

To celebrate the collaboration, we also created a short film inspired by the same idea.

Rather than introducing the candle in the traditional way, we simply asked:

What if Madiloū was a candle?

The film captures the atmosphere behind the collaboration - the flowing silk, the gentle movement, the textures and the quiet moments that inspired the fragrance. It isn't about the product alone; it's about the feeling both brands set out to create.

At Holm, we believe fragrance has the same ability as design to tell stories and create lasting memories. Collaborations like this remind us that inspiration can come from unexpected places, and that some of the most meaningful creations begin with a simple question.

Silk can be seen. Fragrance can be felt. Somewhere between the two, this candle found its story.
